More Trashy TV from Fox
Fox is at it yet again with another stellar show. This time it’s Moment of Truth. The show’s rules are confusing as hell. The official statement from Fox is as follows:
THE MOMENT OF TRUTH will put participants to the test — the lie detector test — to reveal whether or not they are telling the truth for a chance to win half a million dollars. The challenge is simple: answer 21 increasingly personal questions honestly, as determined by a polygraph, and win up to $500,000. This is the only game show where participants know both the questions and the answers before they begin to play. What deep dark secret will someone divulge for hundreds of thousands of dollars?
They start out by asking 50 questions to someone before they even go on the show, all while theyre hooked up to a polygraph machine. Then they go on the show (with their wives or husbands sitting right in front) and have to answer a set of questions truthfully to acquire a set amount of money. So the first round they answer stupid questions like “have you ever taken anything from work?” After answering 6 questions, they get 10,000. To go for 50,000 you have to answer another set of questions. And you have to answer them all truthfully. If you lie about any of them, you automatically lose. So this is my question: Why lie about anything? Whether you tell the truth and say “no i dont see myself with my husband in 5 years”, or lie and say “yes i see myself with my husband in 5 years”….your truth is going to come out anyway. So if youre stupid enough to go on this show, why not at least be smart enough to make some serious money off of it?
Not only is this show trashy, its also soooo boring. You can tell when you have a show that draws out even the simplest of questions. Imagine Who Wants to be a Millionaire. Remember that show? Remember how the first questions were always SUPER easy? Even Regis didnt pretend that it was hard. There was no pause. It was just “CORRECT”. But not this show. This show will ask the guy a stupid question like “have you ever wiped your nose with your sleeve?” He will answer yes. Then there is the longest pause in the history of television “created suspense”. They show a shot of the guy in the chair. Then a shot of his wife. Then a shot of the host looking at the guy in the chair. Then the guy in the chair again. Then an audience member biting her fingernails. Then the wife again. Then the host. Then the guy in the chair finally to reveal “CORRECT”. I could barely stand to watch more than 10 minutes of it.
But then again there are some fucked up questions they ask when you get closer to the money. Which are fun to watch. I like watching couples break up on national television
Good goin Fox. You picked another winner.

1 out of 5 torches up (and the only reason it gets 1 is because I can watch stupid people break up on tv)
